Student Achievment Award

The Diversity Advisory Council annually invites students, staff and faculty to nominate students for the Diversity Advisory Council Student Achievement Award. Any student is eligible to be nominated for this award if he/she:

  1. was enrolled at The University of Montana for a minimum of one full semester during the award year,
  2. is in good academic standing
  3. contributed substantially to cultural diversity at The University of Montana by having:
    • served as a role model to others,
    • voluntarily provided service above and beyond the call of duty to individuals or groups,
    • demonstrated through action the ideals of cultural diversity,
    • helped other members of the campus community gain greater understanding of diversity and multiculturalism, and
    • demonstrated exceptional talents that brought special recognition to fellow students and The University of Montana.

Each criterion is considered in association with all other criteria. No one factor will be the sole basis for student selection. Student selection is made with special care and deliberation. The honor is very special and provides an incentive for all students. A call for nominations is usually issued in February. A Diversity Advisory Council subcommittee reviews all nominations and selects those students most worthy of the award. A reception and awards ceremony hosted by the President and the Vice President for Student Affairs is held in April.
